Hey all so another of these “wouldn’t it be cool if we did this…” scenarios popped up this past week. No I didn’t take another quick jaunt across the country with three tough broads, but what I did do was start a new blog with my buddy Che. We got hung up on the idea of where we could find strange and unusual food in the Boston area after Che mentioned having a hunger for a what we found out to be called a “Fat Sandwhich”. No this isn’t lard slathered generously between two pieces of Wonder bread. It’s a sub, or hoagie, or grinder, or whatever you might call it that includes stuff that is generally on the side right on the sandwich itself. Sandwhiches or as I like to lovingly refer to them “Sammiches” are usually thought of as two pieces of bread or a roll that is stacked with meats, veggies, cheese, and condiments in and random or specific order made to your liking by yourself of people who have decided to sit on the low rung of the career totem pole. Anyways these fat sammiches in particular have generous portions of chosen meats, but also include french fries, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks on top of everything else already in said sammich. So ordering these sammiches got us to thinking about how we could expand our culinary-gastrovocabulary (new combo word=bonus points!) So we sat there devouring our sammiches (or were they devouring us) making lists of places we had heard of or knew about in the area that had unique items not usually found everywhere on their menus, and last week Che, Mike, and I started our gastronomical journey at a Vietnamese restaurant in Dorchester to have frogs legs! You can read all about frogs legs and the rest of our quest here on the new Boston Gastronauts blog so check it out! http://bostongastronaut.wordpress.com/
